Research expertise
Development of technologies for improved detection, assessment and treatment of injuries and diseases of tissues such as articular cartilage and bone. Fundamental studies of structure-function relationships in extracellular matrix providing insight into physical properties of tissues, how they may be assessed, and how they are indicative of disease. Applied studies of fluid and solute transport in tissues addressing questions regarding physiology and movement of contrast agents through tissues, which is important for interpretation of clinical images. Development of new cell culture technologies which promise to provide superior cells for tissue engineering applications.
