The Center for bone phenotyping aims to offer a complete range of analysis for the skeletal phenotyping of genetically engineered mouse models (transgenic, knockout, knock-in). It differs from other platforms by the availability of in vivo measurement devices for longitudinal studies: 1) Cyclical loading system (bone response to mechanical forces; 2) Metabolic analysis system (calorimetric measurements, physical activity (XYZ movements and exercise wheel, amount of food ingested, etc.); 3) High resolution in vivo microtomography.
To these analyses on live animals are the usual ex vivo measurements: microindentation to test bone hardness; high resolution ex vivo microtomography; biomechanical bone properties analysis (3-point bending and torsion testing).

Please send a service request and description of your needs to Martin Pellicelli, PhD (martin.pellicelli@gmail.com).
Fees to access the infrastructure are required to cover the costs of using the vivarium (per diem, if applicable) and the equipment wear and maintenance. The following price list has been established by the management committee.
Ex vivo platform | In vivo platform | |
RSBO members | $40 per hour | $50 per hour |
Others academic | $100 per hour | $120 per hour |
Industry | $250 per hour | $400 per hour |
An animal accommodation fee (per diem) of $1.50/cage/day is added for the use of the in vivo platforms.
